Transcript: Remarks by Austin Nimocks on the Supreme Court’s rulings on same-sex marriage

Partial transcript of remarks by Austin Nimocks, senior co-counsel with Alliance Defending Freedom who defended Prop. 8, on the Supreme Court’s rulings on same-sex marriage on June 26, 2013:

We’re disappointed about the Supreme Court’s decision on standing but we are happy that Proposition 8 does remain the law of the state of California.

As many are aware, unless struck down by an appellate court, an initiative by the citizens of California is the law of California and it remains the law of California in light of the Supreme Court’s ruling striking down and vacating the Ninth Circuit’s decision.

The proponents of Proposition 8, the legal team defending it, will continue to defend Proposition 8 unless or until there is a valid court decision from a court with jurisdiction that strikes it down.

And we do hope, expect, and believe that the officials of the state of California will continue to honor Proposition 8 and enforce it as the law of the state of California.

Thank you.
