PFC Bradley Manning court martial – schedule update

The court martial of Private First Class Bradley Manning will resume at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 15th.

The defense rested its case yesterday following the testimony of Harvard Professor Yochai Benkler on WikiLeaks as a legitimate news source. Manning has declined to take the stand and to call on his remaining witnesses to testify.

Judge Col. Denise Lind will hear oral arguments on the scope of the prosecution’s rebuttal on Monday. She is also expected to rule on the defense’s “directed verdict” motions seeking not guilty findings on six offenses, including the Article 104 “aiding the enemy” charge.

If the prosecution decides to proceed with a rebuttal, then the court will reconvene at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 18th.

However, if the prosecution chooses not present a rebuttal, then closing arguments could begin as early as 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16th.
