Transcript: Nabeela Rehman’s remarks on civilian drone strike victims – Oct. 29, 2013

Partial transcript of remarks by Nabeela Rehman, daughter of Rafiqul Rehman who was injured by a U.S. drone strike on Oct. 24, 2012. Her grandmother Mamana Bibi was killed in the strike. Her remarks were delivered via a translator at a congressional briefing on Oct. 29, 2013:

It was the day before Eid, and my grandmother and I had just come home from outside as we were collecting okra, vegetables. And then I saw in the sky a drone and I heard a gun going once.

Everything was dark and I couldn’t see anything but I heard a scream. I almost know it was my grandmother but I couldn’t see her. I was very scared and all I could think of doing was just run. I kept running but I heard – I felt something in my hand. And I looked to my hand. There was blood. I tried to bandage my hand but the blood kept coming. The blood wouldn’t stop.
